Discover two contrasting sides of London's West End

Explore: Mayfair to Soho

From elegant Mayfair to the bohemian streets of Soho, this walk takes you from grand shopping streets and historic arcades to an area known for music history and nightlife.

We’ll begin in the hidden streets of Shepherd Market before passing Burlington Arcade and Savile Row, famous for tailoring and the Beatles’ rooftop performance. As we move into Soho, jazz at Ronnie Scott’s, late-night cafés and independent shops give us plenty to discover and discuss.

Along the way, you’ll pick up useful English inspired by the places around us and use it in natural conversation.

This tour is ideal for building your confidence in English, meeting other learners and discovering London from a local perspective.

Meeting Spot: Outside Ye Grapes pub, 16 Shepherd Market, W1J 7QS (Nearest tube: Green Park).

Frequently asked questions

YLT’s Explore London: English Immersion Tours are interactive, conversation-focused guided walks through some of the city’s most fascinating neighbourhoods. With our founder, Phil, by your side, you’ll practise English in real London settings while enjoying a more personal introduction to the city.

More than just a tour, we transform London’s neighbourhoods into live learning environments, combining expert English support with culture, conversation and genuine connection.

Our tours are designed for people learning English as a second language who want to use it more confidently in real life. You might be a visitor, an international resident, a student, or a professional. Our tours are best suited to intermediate learners and above. If you’re unsure whether a tour is right for your level, contact us at contact@yourlondontutor.com, and we’ll be happy to advise.

A standard tour tells you about London, but ours gets you talking about it. Each stop is designed to spark conversation, develop your English, and give you genuine opportunities to practise in real-life situations.

For group immersion tours, the itinerary is fixed, but your trainer adapts the conversation and language to suit the group and the tour. For private immersion tours, check out our Explore London: Private English Immersion experiences.

Yes. Every tour is led by Phil, a Londoner and award-winning English language trainer with over 25 years of experience teaching English.

Tours start at a central London landmark and finish nearby. Exact meeting points and timings are shown on each tour page and confirmed when you book. Find out more by visiting: Spitalfields to Brick Lane, Mayfair to Soho and South Bank.

Our tours are walking-based, so a reasonable level of mobility is helpful. If you have specific access or mobility needs, let us know when you book, and we’ll do our best to accommodate you. You can also contact us at contact@yourlondontutor.com.

London’s weather is unpredictable, so we plan accordingly. Tours run in light rain, and your trainer will use covered or indoor locations where possible. In severe weather, we’ll contact you to reschedule.

Yes. Many guests choose to book more than one tour, as each experience explores different parts of the city and offers fresh opportunities to practise English and meet new people.

Tickets for our scheduled Explore London tours are non-refundable once booked, as each ticket reserves a place on a specific tour date and time. For more information, visit our Bookings Terms and Conditions.
