The word ‘bespoke’ is becoming more widely used, but do you know what it really means?

I visited Dege & Skinner, one of Savile Row’s oldest tailoring houses, and spoke with Managing Director William Skinner about the word’s origins.

🔴 bespoke (adjective) = made specially for one person
🔴 spoken for = already chosen or reserved. This can refer to items or people in a romantic relationship
▪️ (item) I’m afraid you can’t have that vase, as it is already spoken for.
▪️(person) Henry wanted to ask Anna on a date, but she’s already spoken for.

It’s also a hard one to spell, but if your doctor is talking about it, you might want to know it.

Imagine you’re playing a game of cards with Jennifer Lopez. Unfortunately, you lose, so say, ‘Jen, you win’.
